The highly anticipated live-action series adaptation of 'God of War' is set to bring the ancient Norse mythology to life on Amazon Prime Video. The series has added some exciting new cast members, including Louis Cunningham as Modi, Ben Chapple as Magni, Evelyn Miller as Gna, and Island Austin as Thrud. These characters are set to bring depth and intrigue to the story, with Cunningham and Austin as series regulars and Chapple and Miller as recurring characters.
Cunningham, known for his role in 'Marie Antoinette', brings a gentle and curious nature to the role of Modi, while Chapple, with his credits in 'Good Cop Bad Cop' and 'Playing for Keeps', portrays the adventurous and protective Magni. Miller, with her roles in 'Foundation' and 'The Lovers', embodies the fierce and loyal Gna, and Austin, with his work in 'Insidious 6' and 'I Can Only Imagine 2', brings a precocious and fearless spirit to Thrud.
The series, which has received a two-season order from Amazon, is set to pick up with the story of the two most recent 'God of War' games. In this adaptation, Kratos, the titular god of war, must raise his ten-year-old son Atreus while battling the gods of the Norse pantheon. The logline promises an intriguing dynamic between father and son, with Kratos trying to teach his son to be a better god and Atreus trying to teach his father how to be a better human.
The new cast members join the previously announced Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as Atreus. Additional cast members include Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as brothers Brok and Sindri, and Ed Skrein as Baldur. Amazon recently released a first look at the series as production got underway.
The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on 'God of War' under his Tall Ship Productions banner. Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes, with Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon also executive producing. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers on the series.
The character descriptions for the new cast members offer a glimpse into the intriguing world of 'God of War'. Louis Cunningham as Modi, Sif and Thor's middle child, brings a gentle and curious nature to the role, with an obsessive and almost insatiably curious mind. Ben Chapple as Magni, Sif and Thor's eldest son, portrays a handsome and adventurous hunter with a natural ladies' man charm, yearning for a greater purpose. Evelyn Miller as Gna, Odin's Valkyrie commander, embodies a fierce warrior with a fanatical loyalty to Odin, while Island Austin as Thrud, Sif and Thor's youngest child, brings a precocious and fearless spirit with a natural yearning for knowledge.
